The Creative, Intelligent and Multisensory Interactions Laboratory (CIMIL) is a funding partner of the Internet of Sounds Research Network, which is supported by the IEEE Communications Society via the creation of a dedicated committee, the IEEE Emerging Technology Initiative on the Internet of Sounds.


IEEE Metaverse Initiative

The Creative, Intelligent and Multisensory Interactions Laboratory (CIMIL) actively contributes to the IEEE Metaverse Initiative, with Prof. Turchet being a Steering Committee member.

The IEEE Metaverse’s mission is to seamlessly integrate the digital and physical worlds through the dynamic Metaverse. Through fostering open collaboration, encouraging the sharing of results, and embracing contributions from diverse sources, the initiative aims to unlock new opportunities for individuals and industries across academic, personal, professional, and social spheres. The ultimate goal is to harness the full potential of the digital world and establish an inclusive, accessible, and transformative Metaverse accessible to all. From standards development to addressing economic, ethical, and technological challenges, the initiative’s vision is to shape the Metaverse into a vibrant ecosystem that empowers people to connect, learn, and thrive.


Z-Inspection®

The Creative, Intelligent and Multisensory Interactions Laboratory (CIMIL) is affiliated with the  Z-Inspection® Initiative. It adopts the Z-Inspection® process to the assessment of the trustworthiness of real-life AI systems and applications.

Z-Inspection® is a holistic process used to evaluate the trustworthiness of AI-based technologies at different stages of the AI lifecycle. It focuses, in particular, on the identification and discussion of ethical issues and tensions through the elaboration of socio-technical scenarios. It uses the European Union’s High-Level Expert Group’s (EU HLEG) guidelines for trustworthy AI.
