1) PhD “Diversity-aware Internet of Musical Things ecosystems” at CIMIL – University of Trento

Main place of work: Trento (Italy)

Description: The PhD will focus on the design, implementation and evaluation of a cloud-based platform for the provision of innovative services to musicians based on Semantic Web and music information retrieval technologies. The platform will support the creation of novel Internet of Musical Things ecosystems that will be aware of the diversity factors of the interacting musicians.

Required skills: 

  • M.Sc. degree in computer science, electronics, mathematics, physics, or related fields

  • sufficient music knowledge (e.g., proven experience in playing a musical instrument)

2) Industrial PhD “Real-time acoustic scene analysis for haptic synthesis in gaming” at company GoTouchVR

The PhD will be supervised by the team members of GoTouchVR as well as by researchers of the Creative, Intelligent & Multisensory Interactions Laboratory of University of Trento https://www.cimil.disi.unitn.it/


Description: The PhD will focus on the implementation of parametric algorithms extracting haptics effects from the audio track of existing videogames. A semantic analysis will be conducted on the audio track in real-time and the extracted information will be used to control the synthesis of haptic effects.

  • Postdoc position in edge computing applied to Internet of Musical Things scenarios (required skills: knowledge of music and Internet of Things)
  • Postdoc position in Music Emotion Recognition (required skills: knowledge of music, music information retrieval, and machine learning)
  • Postdoc position in Semantic Web applied to the music domain (required skills: degree in computer science as well as knowledge of programming and artificial intelligence)
  • Postdoc position in Brain-Computer Interfaces for musical applications in collaboration with company GTEC (required skills: machine learning)
