CIMIL has strong ties with the industry and collaborates with several companies in the Trento area, Italy, and Europe.
The sectors include Healthcare, Creative Industries, Virtual Reality, Internet of Things, Brain-Computer Interfaces, and Sport. Research collaborations with companies can be done through internships of bachelor and master students or via an Industrial PhDs.

Internships
The degree programs at DISI offer the opportunity for companies to shape the education of our bachelor and master students by incorporating their technological needs in the work to be done by them. The most direct benefit for a company participating in this program is having access to a pool of great students and being involved in focusing their training on the topics of interest to the company.

Industrial PhD
This is a type of PhD in which the students carry their research jointly supervised by a university professor and an engineer from a company. The Doctorate Program in Industrial Innovation is co-founded by the University of Trento and the Fondazione Bruno Kessler. It is an interdisciplinary program that offers a wide range of courses by the Fondazione Bruno Kessler and the Departments of Information Engineering and Computer Science (DISI), Industrial Engineering (DII), Economics and Management (DEM), Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering (DICAM) and Physics (DIF) of the University of Trento.
Companies are the key players of the Program that propose specific research problems (e.g. research topics 2020) to solve and participate in the design of individual educational paths.
CIMIL collaborates with a number of companies both in the Trento area, Italy and Europe, which offer opportunities for an industrial PhD. These companies include Orastron (digital audio processing, Italy), Audio Modeling (digital audio processing, Italy), Digital Mosaik (virtual reality, Italy), Elk (music technology, Sweden), GTEC (brain-computer interfaces, Austria), Cyberith (virtual reality, Austria), Athonet (telecommunications, Italy), Prorob (robotics, Italy).
